Most everyone loves a good burger; yet if you don't eat beef or shouldn't for health reasons you don't have to be left smelling the neighbors grilled burgers over your backyard fence. Juicy Gourmet Turkey Burgers will sooth the burger beast inside and you'll feel good that you used healthy turkey meat. Turkey is much lower in saturated fat than beef, but an additional thought is to look for natural turkey, that has not been produced with antibiotics or hormones. This recipe will make you a believer and gourmet turkey burgers will be on your menu often.

Gourmet Turkey Burger Recipe

Turkey Burger Ingredients: (makes 3-4 ) turkey burgers

  • 1-11/4 pound fresh ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup finely diced onions
  • 1 teaspoon steak seasoning
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped fresh organic spinach
  • 1 super thick slice of your favorite deli cheese per burger

Burger Basting Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon coarse natural sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red curry powder
  • dash of thyme leaves

Burger Topping

  • 1/2 poblano pepper (or if you don't do spice);red, yellow or orange bell pepper thin slice for saute
  • 1/2 cup onion sliced thin for saute

Heat a pat of butter and saute onion and pepper in a hot skillet just before burgers come off the grill.

*You can kick it up a little more with some fresh sliced ripe avocado to layer on your burgers.

How to bring your Turkey Burgers all together

Gently mix ingredients into the turkey meat and make the size patties you like. Place patties on a hot grill and turn after grill side has began to set. baste and season each side before turning every few minutes. Repeat this process until the burgers are firm and done; place cheese slices on burgers a few minutes before they are completely done.

  • Remove from grill and let stand for 3-5 minutes.
  • Cover with the saute, sliced avocado and other favorite toppings.
  • Accompany with your favorite burger sides.
  • Place bib over your shirt and devour.
